Through each brushstroke and detail I try to capture the beauty of wildlife and their unique habitats. I hope my creations can help bridge the gap between appreciation and advocacy, turning an artistic vision into a powerful tool for conservation and ensuring a future where these remarkable creatures can thrive.

Howdy y’all and welcome to my studio!

I’d like to start off with a quick introduction of who I am and what inspires my work. My name is Shelby McCay and I’ve always had a passion for art and wildlife. I decided to combine these two passions by creating Fauna Silvestre Studio in 2016. It all began with a few small canvas, a pack of brushes and basic set of paints on my dining room table. I now work out of my home studio and have more art supplies than I would like to admit.

As a full time wildlife biologist I draw inspiration from my adventures in the field and travels. I have had the privilege to work with and help conserve many different endangered plant and animal species in Texas, Florida, Mexico and Brazil. I also teach a variety of online, natural resources related courses at Texas A&M University (whoop!) and I truly enjoy helping foster the next generation of wildlife professionals.

I was born and mostly raised in San Antonio, TX and still live here with my husband, kitty Flora, and our four chickens (Kura, Pierogi, Pepita and Tamago). Thanks for reading and I look forward to creating wildlife-themed art for all y’all to enjoy!

“Cute, original designs for any nature lover. I bought several as gifts for family and friends around the world to share some of Texas in a creative way.”
